A Typical 6 Day Programme

When it comes to cooking schools, el Mirador del Castillo Spanish Culinary School is unique. Not only is 'el castillo' unique as a location, but the programme we have put together for your 6-day stay is unrivalled. This experience isn’t just about ‘cooking’ nor ‘learning to cook’ – this is about living the Spanish experience. Just take a look at what we have in store for you here in this wonderfully majestic part of southern Spain.

Your Unique Spanish Culinary Experience commences from the moment you arrive, pre-course, on the Sunday. You will be met by the owner-manager of the property, and while enjoying your first taste of Spain, in the form of a typical Spanish meal, you will briefed about the programme and get to know the other guests. The following morning the programme starts in earnest, and here’s what you can expect to experience:

Day 1 – Sunday

  • Arrival at el Mirador del Castillo
  • Evening meal and briefing; get to know your fellow guests

Day 2 – Monday

  • a.m. Hands-on tuition in Spanish cuisine
  • Lunch
  • p.m. Hands-on tuition in Spanish cuisine
  • Evening meal & relaxation

Day 3 – Tuesday

  • a.m. Hands-on tuition in Spanish cuisine
  • Lunch –
  • p.m. Hands-on tuition in Spanish cuisine
  • Evening – Spanish Language Lesson
  • Evening meal & relaxation

Day 4 – Wednesday

  • a.m. Early morning visit to the local Spanish market (using your best Spanish learnt the evening before)
  • a.m. Late morning - hands-on tuition in Spanish cuisine
  • Lunch – Ruta de Tapas through Mojacar Village (we have laid on visits to some very interesting establishments with special tapas and wines for you to try)
  • p.m. Hands-on tuition in Spanish cuisine
  • Evening meal & relaxation

Day 5 – Thursday

  • a.m. Early  morning hands-on tuition in Spanish cuisine
  • a.m. Late morning visit to Bodega in the Alpujarra region (famous for its Almeria wines)
  • Lunch to be taken en route or at a Bodega meson or a celebrity chef restaurant.
  • p.m. Early evening – Celebrity Chef demonstration
  • plus hands-on tuition in Spanish cuisine. (Guests are to cook for the Celebrity Chef and join him/her for dinner!)
  • Evening meal & relaxation

Day 6 – Friday

  • Lunch

  • Grand Course Dinner & relaxation

Day 7 – Saturday

  • a.m. Departure

The evening relaxation may include revisiting Mojacar Pueblo tapas bars, and sometimes includes entertainment such as flamenco evenings, fiestas etc.

El Mirador del Castillo is also the home of a number of culinary clubs, and entertainment evenings, and subject to schedule, our residential guests are invited to attend any of these events.
