Getting to Mojacar and el Castillo

Mojácar is in the province of Almeria, between Malaga and Alicante on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The nearest international airports are Almeria (50 mins drive), Alicante (2 hrs 15 mins), and Murcia San Javier (2 hrs). Daily buses connect the town to Almeria, Vera, Lorca, Murcia, Granada, Madrid, Barcelona, and other places.

From Almeria, take the A7 autoroute, direction Murcia, and turn off at Los Gallardos (exit 520). Go straight across the roundabout following the directions to Turré and Mojacar. On reaching Turré take a left turn at the junction after crossing the bridge and continue until you reach a roundabout just below Mojacar (Bar Simon is opposite). Turn right and continue on up the winding road until you come to a fork in the road with the Bar El Pavana in the centre. Take the left fork and you will find yourself in Mojacar's main square.

On entering the square Bar Jamón Jamón is on your left, followed immediately by a yellow post box and a narrow road (the Unicaja bank is opposite). Turn left up this road, continue some 50 m to the top where you will come to a small square with a wide stairway.

El Mirador del Castillo is up the steps. To avoid the steps, go along the narrow street to the left of the stairs, Calle Tico Medina, and up the ramp at the end. You have arrived!

From direction Alicante/Murcia- take the A7 autoroute towards Almeria and turn off at Los Gallardos (exit 525). Follow the directions to Turré and Mojacar. On reaching Turré, turn left after crossing the bridge and continue to the roundabout by Bar Simon. Turn right and continue as described above.
